Biography of First Lady Carole Crist

First Lady Carole Crist grew up in Roslyn, New York, a suburb of New York City, as the youngest of five children. After graduating from Roslyn High School with honors in 1987, Carole attended Georgetown University School of Business in Washington, D.C., graduating magna cum laude in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
After graduation, Carole worked as an auditor in New York City’s financial district. She later obtained her real estate brokerage license in New York and joined one of the city’s top firms. Carole moved on to play a more active role in her family’s business, serving as the company’s president from 2000-2008.

First Lady Crist shares the Governor’s goal of enriching the lives of all Floridians. She is especially drawn to helping military families in the Sunshine State, emphasizing the importance of a quality education, and supporting charities, such as the March of Dimes and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, that improve the lives of children. She previously supported “ARTrageous,” an art auction benefiting foster children in New York City.

As First Lady, Carole enjoys the many opportunities to meet the people of Florida at events around the state. Her experience as an employer provides insight into economic issues facing Floridians, while interacting with Florida seniors has underscored her commitment to a vital sector of our state’s population.
Carole became First Lady of Florida on December 12, 2008, when she married Florida Governor Charlie Crist in his hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida. As Florida’s First Lady, Carole will focus on the state’s most critical issues, as well as continuing her philanthropic work.
