Introduction

As the People’s Governor, I have worked hard in my first year in office to ensure that Florida remains a great place to live, work, and play. By listening to the people of Florida and their ideas, I will continue to seek opportunities to improve the quality of life that is drawing hundreds of new residents to our state every day.

Together, we have faced many challenges – and together we are addressing these challenges. By keeping taxes low, creating jobs, and fueling an economy that ranks ahead of most nations of the world, Florida sets a model at which others can marvel. My priorities continue to be providing a world-class education for our children, public safety and affordable health care for our families, job growth and development for our economy, and preservation and alternative energy for our environment.

The vision so many of us share is a strategic and comprehensive plan to implement important changes in Florida. As my administration works with the Legislature to embrace these opportunities for all Floridians, I hope you will hold my office accountable for our performance in the following areas.
